The 19th of May is an official holiday in Marmaris and everywhere in the country. It is declared as the Youth and Sports Festival by the greatest leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day is an official holiday in Turkey. All administration buildings, post offices, schools, and most businesses are closed on this day.  Public transport routes will vary in the event of sporting events across Turkey. Marmaris is no exception this weekend.

One of Atatürk’s quotes ‘A healthy mind in a healthy body’ could well be a slogan for this weekend in Marmaris, hosting sporting events again. This time it is the cycling and swimming!

The cycling will begin on Friday 19th May at 17:00 from the shopping center Blue Port, right across our building office. This is not a high paced competition, and aimed at the promotion of the new roads for bicycles in Marmaris. The cycling event will continue along the main road down to the square of Ataturk in Marmaris center.

The 5th International Arena Aquamasters Swimming Championships is continuing with short course swimming championships from Wednesday till Saturday at 09:00AM, Setur Marinas 4×500 Relay Meet on May 20th at 16:00. Final and probably the most exciting swimming event will take place on Sunday May 21st at 10:00AM it will be the Open Water Swimming Marathon in Marmaris Bay. Everyone is welcome to watch and cheer up in Marmaris!
