The Turks have a very sweet tooth for gooey, syrupy desserts like the well known Baklava. You will find many cake shops in town where you can have a coffee and try some of these delicios sweets. Here are some examples of the more popular ones:

ASURE                      "Noah's pudding" -- a thick pudding with friuts and nuts
BABA TATLISI         a ring shaped cake with a centre filling of custard or fruits served with syrup
BAKLAVA                 pastry filled with nuts, almonds, and pistachio again in rich syrup
BULBUL YUVASI        "Nightingale's nest" -- pastry filled with pistachio and walnut puree served with sherbet
DILBER DUDAGI    "Sweetheart's lips" -- pastry filled with various kinds of nuts
KABAK TATLISI     pumpkin served with nuts and syrup
KAZAN DIBI            a pudding with charamelized base
SEKER PARE           shortbread in thick sugar syrup
